Hiring another admin won't fix your back office

When the back office falls behind, the first instinct is always the same: hire another admin. Six months later the typing has grown to fill the new hands, and the owner still can't see last month's profit.

The problem was never the people. It's that good people were spending their days on work a system should do — re-typing bank lines, chasing duplicates, assembling the same report the same way every month.

The businesses that get ahead don't have bigger admin teams. They have the same people doing different work: chasing receivables, talking to customers, watching the numbers instead of typing them.
